Asetek Racing is the sim racing brand of Asetek, the Danish company that invented the all-in-one liquid cooler found in gaming PCs around the world. It entered sim racing in 2021 with hydraulic pedals and now builds wheelbases from 5.5 to 27 Nm, steering wheels, pedals, a shifter and a handbrake, backed by a 5-year warranty. NOX Gaming is an authorized Asetek Racing dealer in Canada, shipping across the country from Trois-Rivieres, Quebec.
Key takeaways
- Asetek started with one goal: a founder who wanted to go faster in a motocross game. It went on to invent the sealed-loop liquid cooler and sell more than 10 million units.
- Asetek Racing, formerly Asetek SimSports, launched in 2021 and offers four product lines: Initium, La Prima, Forte and Invicta.
- Asetek announced a 5-year warranty on all Asetek Racing products bought after October 15, 2026.
- The DD10 wheelbase is Xbox-ready, but it needs an Xbox-compatible Asetek wheel, and that wheel is not available yet.
- Asetek pedals also work with other brands’ wheelbases: they connect directly to your PC by USB.

Who is Asetek?
Asetek is a Danish engineering company based in Aalborg, best known for PC liquid cooling. The story starts with a very relatable problem. According to Asetek, founder André Eriksen discovered at university that overclocking his processor with better cooling, meaning running it faster than its rated speed, made him quicker in a motocross game. He wanted to win, and the seed of a business was planted.
Eriksen founded Asetek as a private company in 1997, and it was incorporated in 2000. Its first big idea sounded a little unhinged: put a refrigeration system on a PC. That product, the VapoChill, froze CPUs to sub-zero temperatures so they could run faster than anyone thought reasonable. Asetek calls itself a Danish garage-to-stock-exchange success story, and the first chapter fits the description.
How did Asetek become so big in PC cooling?
Asetek became a giant in PC cooling by inventing the sealed-loop liquid cooler, the design behind today’s all-in-one (AIO) coolers. An AIO is a closed, ready-to-install liquid cooling system: no custom tubing, no filling, no weekend lost to plumbing. If you have seen a radiator and a pump block inside a gaming PC, you have seen the idea Asetek helped bring to the mainstream.
The timeline below, from Asetek’s own history, shows how far that idea traveled.
| Year | Milestone |
|---|---|
| 1997 | André Eriksen founds Asetek to solve processor overheating; the VapoChill follows |
| 2000 | Asetek is incorporated |
| 2007 | Asetek technology cools HP’s Blackbird 002 gaming PC; Acer and Dell-Alienware follow |
| 2009 | Mass production of AIO coolers for DIY PC builders begins |
| 2013 | Asetek goes public on the Oslo Stock Exchange |
| 2018 | Asetek direct-to-chip cooling runs in 13 systems on the TOP500 list of the world’s fastest supercomputers |
| 2021 | Asetek enters sim racing with the Invicta pedals |
| 2022 | Asetek reaches 10 million liquid cooling AIO units sold |
| 2024 | The Invicta steering wheel launches, hand-built in Denmark |
| 2026 | Dual Mode Shifter, Load Cell Handbrake and DD10 wheelbase launch; 5-year warranty announced |
Asetek’s partner list reads like a tour of the PC hardware world: Corsair, NZXT, EVGA, ASUS ROG, Lian Li, Intel and AMD have all worked with its cooling technology. One more name on that list is close to home. Asetek also names TRYX as a partner, and TRYX cooling runs in the NOX NOVA TRYX gaming PC that we build in Trois-Rivieres.
How did Asetek get into sim racing?
Asetek’s sim racing division started the way many great sim rigs start: a parent, a kid and a racing obsession. According to Asetek, Eriksen carried his passion for racing from go-karting into formula racing, then passed it on to his son Valdemar, who now races GT3 and LMP3. Eriksen wanted to build Valdemar a practice simulator, looked at the hardware available and decided the category had room for improvement. So he did what engineers do.
The jump from liquid cooling to sim racing is shorter than it looks. Asetek describes itself as a mechatronics company, meaning it blends mechanics, hardware and software, and that is exactly what a wheelbase or a set of pedals is. To speed things up, Asetek acquired UGT, a sim racing specialist known for wheel displays, to get a head start on software development.
In 2021 the division arrived with something nobody expected from a cooling company: the Invicta pedals, with a hydraulic brake designed to feel like a real race car. From there the lineup grew fast. Officially licensed Pagani Huayra R pedals came in 2022, followed by the Forte range, wheelbases and, in 2024, the Invicta steering wheel. The brand first went by Asetek SimSports and is now called Asetek Racing, so you will see both names, including on some products.
What sim racing products does Asetek make?
Asetek makes a full sim racing ecosystem: wheelbases, steering wheels, pedals, a shifter, a handbrake and accessories, split across four product lines. Think of them as a ladder. Initium is where you start, La Prima is the sweet spot for most drivers, Forte adds power and polish, and Invicta is the flagship.
Asetek direct drive wheelbases
A wheelbase is the motor your steering wheel bolts onto, and it creates the force feedback you feel in your hands. All Asetek bases are direct drive, so the motor turns the wheel shaft directly with no gears or belts. Torque, measured in Newton-metres (Nm), tells you how strong that motor is.

| Wheelbase | Torque | Upgrade path | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Initium (in the Racing Bundle) | 5.5 Nm | Boost Kit to 8 Nm | First-time sim racers on a desk |
| Initium DD10 | 10 Nm | Boost Kit to 14 Nm | Drivers moving up from a gear or belt wheel |
| La Prima | 12 Nm | Boost Kit to 16 Nm | Hobbyists who want a long-term base |
| Forte | 18 Nm | None needed | GT3 fans and heavier wheels |
| Invicta | 27 Nm | None needed | Drivers who want the flagship |
Do you need 27 Nm? Probably not, and that is fine. Asetek itself describes the 12 Nm range as the one that suits most drivers. The Invicta exists for people who want an F1-style feel with lots of headroom, and Asetek says it was developed with input from pro sim racers and drivers such as Kevin Magnussen. Our guide on how to compare sim racing wheelbases explains how to pick the right torque.
Asetek steering wheels
Asetek steering wheels come in two families, so start with the kind of car you love to drive.
- Formula wheels suit F1 cars and endurance prototypes. The La Prima Formula wheel is ready to race out of the box, and its handles can be swapped later. The Forte Formula Pro adds a touch display and 78 inputs. The Forte Formula button box lets you pick your own grips, such as the LMP handles or Regular handles.
- GT wheels are two-part: a button box plus a rim you choose. Start with the La Prima GT button box or the Forte GT button box, then add a rim like the Closed D leather rim for GT cars, the Round leather rim for road cars and trucks, or the Dished suede rim for rally and drifting.
The fun part is that one button box can become several wheels. Swap the rim and your GT3 wheel becomes a rally wheel in seconds, which is easier on your budget and your shelf space than buying three complete wheels.
Asetek pedals
Asetek pedals are where the sim racing story began, and many drivers would tell you they are the first thing to upgrade. The reason is simple: brakes that respond to pressure are easier to repeat, lap after lap, than brakes that only measure how far the pedal moved.

- Forte pedals recreate the firm, pressure-based feel of a race car brake without going fully hydraulic. They are the natural step up from entry-level pedals.
- Invicta T.H.O.R.P. II pedals are the flagship. The name stands for Twin Hydraulic Opposing Rapid Pistons, and the brake works in two stages like a real car: first the pads close on the disc, then you press against the hydraulics.
- Forte S-Series and Invicta S-Series pedals split the brake and throttle into separate units, so you can set the spacing to match your cockpit or a specific car.
- The La Prima clutch adds a third pedal for manual cars and standing starts.
Asetek shifter, handbrake and accessories
Asetek’s newest add-ons launched on October 6, 2026, and both are developed, engineered and built by Asetek’s own team in Denmark, according to the company. The Dual Mode Shifter is an H-pattern and sequential shifter in one unit, with seven gears and reverse, tested by Asetek to 300,000 shift cycles. The Load Cell Handbrake reads how hard you pull rather than how far, using a 200 kg load cell, and it was tested to one million brake cycles. Rally fans, this one is for you.

To finish a rig, the Asetek Racing cockpit floor mat keeps your setup in place and protects the floor underneath it.
Asetek bundles
Bundles are the easy way in, because every part is matched and nothing is left out.
- The Initium Racing Bundle (PC) includes a wheelbase, steering wheel, pedals and a table clamp, so you can race as soon as it is unpacked.
- The La Prima 12 Nm bundle pairs the base with the La Prima Formula wheel and Forte pedals.
- The Forte 18 Nm bundle adds a GT button box, suede rim, clutch and the Dual Mode Shifter.
- The Invicta 27 Nm bundle is the dream setup, with LMP handles and hydraulic T.H.O.R.P. II pedals.

The Asetek Racing La Prima 12 Nm direct drive wheelbase is the range Asetek says suits most drivers, with a Boost Kit upgrade to 16 Nm.
Asetek Racing La Prima 12 Nm WheelbaseWhat is RaceHub and which games does Asetek support?
RaceHub is Asetek’s free PC software, and it is where you tune everything from one place: pedal curves, force feedback, LED colours, button mapping and wheel displays. Asetek says changes save automatically, and you can download ready-made presets if you would rather race than tinker. It also connects with SimHub, the popular dashboard and telemetry app.
Asetek’s supported games list covers the titles most Canadian sim racers play, including iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa EVO, Le Mans Ultimate, Automobilista 2, rFactor 2, EA Sports WRC, F1 2025, Forza Motorsport and Project Motor Racing. Truck fans are covered too, with telemetry and LED support for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Asetek keeps adding features for free. The Virtual Button Box, a firmware update released on August 18, 2026, adds up to six swipe-away touch buttons on the display of the Forte Formula Pro and Invicta wheels. No new hardware, just more wheel.
Does Asetek work on Xbox?
Asetek Racing’s Xbox support is on the way, but it is not ready to race today, and this is worth reading before you buy. Asetek says the DD10 wheelbase is Xbox-ready when paired with an Asetek Racing Xbox-compatible steering wheel, and that such a wheel is required. The catch: that wheel is not available yet.
Here is what we know so far:
- Wheelbase: the Initium DD10 is built to work on Xbox and will wait for you on PC in the meantime.
- Steering wheel: Asetek has not listed an Xbox wheel for sale. Reports from the DD10 launch point to the first one arriving in the first quarter of 2027, and Asetek’s earlier target of 2025 already slipped, so treat that date as a goal rather than a promise.
- Shifter and handbrake: Asetek says both are Xbox-ready when used with an Xbox-compatible Asetek wheelbase and steering wheel.
- Current wheels: the La Prima, Forte and Invicta wheels are listed for PC. Asetek has not announced Xbox support for them.
- PlayStation: Asetek does not list PlayStation support for these products.
If you only race on Xbox and want to race today, Asetek is not ready for you yet. For a console setup you can use right now, see our guide to MOZA on Xbox. If you race on PC and plan to add an Xbox later, the DD10 is the Asetek base to start with.
What is coming next from Asetek Racing?
The next big Asetek Racing launch is the GT Nova steering wheel, announced at SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt and due in March 2027. Asetek describes it as a high-value GT wheel with a small OLED screen, and a clever trick called MultiLink: one rotary switch changes what the surrounding controls do, so two physical controls become 24 inputs. It also brings RaceHub Link, which lets you adjust wheelbase, pedal and wheel settings from the wheel itself without leaving the game. Asetek says RaceHub Link will also come to the Forte Formula Pro and Invicta wheels.
Why can you trust Asetek Racing?
You can trust Asetek Racing because the company has more to lose than most. It has spent more than 25 years building products that sit inside other people’s expensive PCs, where failure is not an option. Here is what stands out for a sim racer about to spend real money.
- A 5-year warranty. Asetek announced a 5-year warranty on all Asetek Racing products bought after October 15, 2026, starting from the date of purchase. Existing warranty terms apply. That is a strong statement from a brand about its own hardware.
- Danish engineering. Asetek says every product is engineered in Denmark, and the Invicta steering wheel is hand-built there.
- Racers involved in development. Kevin Magnussen helped shape the Invicta force feedback, and Asetek’s ambassadors include Pietro and Enzo Fittipaldi, grandsons of Emerson Fittipaldi, and Luca Magnussen. Asetek Racing also sponsors iRacing’s Formula 1600 Rookie Series.
- Room to grow. Boost Kits, swappable rims and handles, and upgrade kits mean you can improve one piece at a time instead of replacing your setup.
- An open ecosystem. Asetek pedals connect to your PC by USB, so they work alongside other brands’ wheelbases. The DD10 quick release accepts third-party wheels, and Asetek wheels such as the Forte Formula Pro can fit third-party bases.
