Most sim racing wheels take visual cues from real motorsport. The VPG Sim Mustang GT3 does not. It is the real steering wheel, re-engineered for sim racing. VPG Sim worked directly with Ford and the GT3 racing programme to produce a wheel that shares the same moulds, the same carbon fibre materials, and the same manufacturing process as the wheel driven in championship-level endurance racing. The result is a sim racing wheel with a degree of physical authenticity that nothing else on the market can match.
The carbon fibre body and grip sections are genuine race-grade carbon, the same material and layup used on the actual GT3 car. This gives the wheel its characteristic stiffness, its exact weight distribution, and the tactile quality underhand that only real carbon delivers. At 1,120 grams, the weight is precisely that of a competition steering wheel, which means the rotational inertia your direct drive base works against is the same as a real race car driver experiences, directly affecting how force feedback translates from the base through the wheel and into your hands.
The control layout was designed in collaboration with Ford and the GT racing teams for use in endurance competition, so every button, rotary, and switch is positioned where a racing driver’s hands naturally reach. The open-top design maximises screen visibility in a rig environment, and the ergonomic grip geometry is optimised for long-stint comfort without sacrificing control during high-load corners.
Button quality is automotive grade throughout. The 10 APEM push-buttons each require 650 grams of actuation force, making them firm, deliberate, and consistent. The 2 Otto P9 rear buttons handle secondary inputs, and the 2+2 ALPS 7-way funky switches and 3 Elma 12-position rotary switches provide the density of control that endurance and multi-class racing demands. The magnetic paddle shifters deliver fast, tactile shifts, and the Hall sensor analog clutch gives you genuine bite-point control for race starts and heel-toe work.
All 76 inputs are individually mappable, and the 76 individually addressed RGB LEDs are fully SimHub compatible for RPM indicators, flag alerts, and any telemetry display you configure. Dome gel stickers are included for button labelling and customisation, offering both tactile feedback and visual clarity for button identification in race conditions.
The wheel mounts on a 50.8mm PCD pattern as standard. 70mm PCD compatibility is available using the VPG Wheel E Extension hub, which is sold separately or available as an add-on at checkout.
